Design Services Vignettes, Suite 117 E

vignette.JPG

Members of the BDC’s Design Services team recently curated four vignettes dotted around the BDC. The talented designers transformed blank slates into vibrant livable spaces using items lent from BDC showrooms. One of the vignettes featured on first floor next to the BDC West entry. Designed by: Debbe Daley, Dibby Flint, Kim Macumber, Vivian Robbins. Check out the entire gallery below!

From the design team:

“Our vignette was a collaboration of thoughts and inspired by Covid and the changes we were all seeing with requests from our clients to be creative with multi-function rooms. A home office workspace, a recreation space and a hanging out space / family room space is what we came up with for our vignette. We wanted it to be a “WOW” space, an uplifting place to hang. We were all on a mission every time we visited or worked our Design Services day at the design center to source specific themed pieces of mid-century feel and design. The painting on the wall was the brain-child of Vivian Robbins. The rugs were sourced from Steven King and Vivian sketched the design from the rug. We all contributed to choosing the pieces, as well as mixing the old with the new from accessories in our own homes. The showrooms were more than willing to contribute and very accommodating when we had try a lamp that didn’t quite work and switch to another. Or at the last minute, a final piece was sighted at M-Geough, the orange bench, and they were certainly accommodating and brough it right down. Our participating showrooms were a dream to work with.”

This vignette was a unified collaboration inspired by how we all were living during Covid. It embraces the various requests we each received from our clients about how they now wanted multi-functional family living spaces. It was our goal to make the room feel uplifting, comfortable and fun - with a punch of WOW. Our team visited the various showrooms on our Design Services day. MGeough’s A. Rudin sectional set the tone for the hand-painted wall mural. It’s color and style inspired the modern silk/wool rug that Vivian Robins sourced from Steven King. She sketched out a segment of the rug design and brought it to life on the wall. Farrow & Ball’s Dutch Orange became the central player in identifying the energy we wanted in the space. The mix of modern, mid-century and traditional furniture and accessories makes this space anything but boring. Each designer contributed their own sense of style to the finished vignette.”
