Current Routes to Boston Design Center

From the South:

I-93 North:

  • Heading northbound on I-93 towards Boston, take Exit 20, which will be immediately after Exit 18.
  • Follow the signs to I-90 East.
  • Take the first tunnel exit to "South Boston"
  • Turn right onto Congress Street.
  • Turn right onto D Street.
  • Turn left onto Summer Street.
  • Turn left onto Drydock Avenue (Boston Marine Industrial Park)
  • Boston Design Center is the second building on your right.

From Rhode Island:

  • Take 1-95 NORTH.
  • Merge onto 1-93 NORTH
  • Follow directions above "FROM the SOUTH".

From Route 24:

  • Take Route 24 NORTH.
  • Merge onto I-93 NORTH.
  • Follow directions above "FROM the SOUTH".

From Route 3/Cape Cod:

  • Take Route 3 NORTH.
  • Merge onto I-93 NORTH.
  • Follow directions above "FROM the SOUTH".

From the North:

I-93 South:

  • Heading southbound on I-93 toward Boston, take Exit 20A / South Station
  • At the top of the exit ramp, turn left onto Summer Street
  • Travel on Summer Street for apporximately 2 miles, passing South Station and the Boston Convention Center as you do.
  • Turn left onto Drydock Avenue (Boston Marine Industrial Park)
  • Boston Design Center is the second building on your right.

Route 1 South:

  • Take Route 1 SOUTH
  • Merge onto I-93 SOUTH.
  • Follow directions above "FROM the NORTH".

From the West

I-90/Mass Pike East:

  • Follow the Massachusetts Turnpike/I-90 EAST Exit 25 "South Boston."
  • Keep left at the fork in the ramp towards "Seaport Boulevard."
  • At the first set of lights, take a right onto Congress Street.
  • Turn right onto D Street.
  • Turn left onto Summer Street.
  • Turn left onto Drydock Avenue (Boston Marine Industrial Park)
  • Boston Design Center is the second building on your right.

Via Storrow Drive:

  • Take Storrow Drive East to Leverett Circle and follow signs for I-93 SOUTH.
  • Follow directions above "FROM the NORTH".

From Logan International Airport & Route 1A South:

  • Follow the signs towards I-90 West/Ted Williams Tunnel.
  • Take the Ted Williams Tunnel to Exit 25 “South Boston".
  • At the top of the ramp bear right onto Congress Street.
  • Turn right onto D Street.
  • Turn left onto Summer Street.
  • Turn left onto Drydock Avenue (Boston Marine Industrial Park)
  • Boston Design Center is the second building on your right.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

MBTA Subway Service - Silver Line Waterfront:

Conveniently located at South Station, take the Silver Line Waterfront (SL2) to the Boston Design Center.

MBTA Bus Service

#7 City Point to Downtown Crossing (connects with South Station) – Take the #7 to the Summer Street stop at the intersection of Summer Street/ Drydock Avenue. Walk down Drydock Avenue and Boston Design Center is the second building on your right. Note: No Service on Sunday.

PARKING

Boston Design Center maintains an automated visitor parking lot off of Drydock Avenue in front of the BDC. Payment for parking by credit only is collected at the lot exit gate. Hourly rates apply from 8 am to 9 pm.

Short term 90 minute visitor parking is available in designated spaces on the north (Drydock Ave) side of the building.

Valet Parking is available at the BDC 19 Drydock entrance Tues, Weds, Thurs, between 10:30am and 2:00pm. The valet fee is a flat rate of $20.

There is no visitor parking in the front courtyard or on the south side of the building. Visitor parking is not permitted in reserved or permit parking spaces. Parking regulations are strictly enforced. Violators will be towed.

PUBLIC TOURS

Public tours are conducted for interested groups as an excellent introduction to the BDC. Groups may call 617-449-5506 to schedule a tour. Advance notice is required for groups of more than 10 people. Designer on Call members conduct tours. Cost is $100 per designer per group of 10 visitors.
