Jewett Farms & Co.
Matthew Lord and Mike Myers had a big vision for their business from the start. What started as a woodshop without indoor plumbing in York, ME more than 15 years ago has evolved into a modern, 15,000-square-foot cabinet shop and office in Dover, NH - complete with a bathroom and running water. Last year, the duo behind Jewett Farms & Co. took another step toward increasing their exposure by opening a showroom at the BDC. Yet while they have made big changes to their outfit, they have retained their unwavering commitment to outstanding quality and craftsmanship. As part of that dedication to their craft, they have worked tirelessly to find creative and sustainable ways to grow a traditional business in a modern economy while nurturing the skills of their craftspeople and acknowledging the hard work that goes into the finest construction.
In addition to custom cabinetry, Jewett Farms & Co is the proud regional distributor of M. Teixeira Soapstone. Stylish and durable, soapstone is at home in both traditional and contemporary interiors and has become a wonderful alternative to marble and Corian. The company has also expanded into hard wood flooring, sourcing antique, reclaimed, and repurposed materials - as well as new materials - to achieve a distinctive design aesthetic for any room.
In a recent project on the NH seacoast, Matt and Mike collaborated with Cebula Designs and TMS Architects on the kitchen in a new house designed for an active family. The center of non-stop activity, the space needed to work overtime as a place to cook, eat, study, and catch up on the day’s activities – while also being comfortable, welcoming, and great-looking. The team combined a variety of innovative materials and textures with a rich color story: white, painted perimeter cabinetry, black Barroca soapstone, and walnut furnishings, with some traditional design elements for a winning look.
When they are not at the helm of their company, chances are Matt and Mike are hitting the road or the trail: Mike has participated in the Pan Mass Challenge for the last eight years and Matt is a Leadville Trail 100 and Ironman finisher.
